Dr Antonio Serrano, Professor of Commercial Law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, has published a second study produced during his time as a visiting researcher at eUniv. Entitled Del leviatán al algoritmo: Inteligencia artificial y la reescritura del contrato social, the study appears in issue no. 32 of the Revista de Fiscalidad Internacional y Negocios Transnacionales, published by Editorial Aranzadi.
The Director of the J. H. Newman Doctoral School has extended the institution’s congratulations to Dr Serrano on the success of the research he conducted at eUniv.
On 28 May 2026, the Bishop of Urgell and Co-Prince of Andorra, Msgr Josep-Lluís Serrano, signed the new ecclesiastical appointments for the diocese. Among them is the appointment of Msgr Josep Chisvert, Vice-Chancellor of eUniv, as Rector of the Cathedral of Urgell. Msgr Chisvert has served as Rector of the Andorran parish of Sant Julià de Lòria since 2010.
Msgr Chisvert, an economist by training, will continue to serve as the Education Delegate of the Diocese of Urgell and will become a member of its Episcopal Council, representing the archpriesthoods of Alt Urgell, Núria-Cerdanya and Valls d’Andorra.
The Senate and Academic Board of eUniv wish to express their recognition of the outstanding pastoral work carried out by Msgr Chisvert, as well as their gratitude for the support he has consistently provided to the institution, recalling that the establishment of eUniv’s headquarters in the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria was his initiative. The University extends its institutional congratulations to Msgr Chisvert, together with its best wishes for a fruitful undertaking of his new responsibilities, and offers him the full cooperation of the entire university community.
Dr Antonio Serrano, Professor of Commercial Law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, has published the research conducted during his stay as a visiting researcher at eUniv’s J. H. Newman Doctoral School. The study, entitled “La automatización de la justicia digital: ODRS, Inteligencia Artificial y la redefinición transnacional de las garantías procesales”, is included as Chapter V of the book “¿Justicia algorítmica?: Inteligencia Artificial y métodos adecuados de gestión de conflictos tras la Ley Orgánica 1/2025”, edited by Professors Marta Gonzalo and María del Carmen Cazorla and published by Editorial Aranzadi.
In his research, Dr Serrano analyses the transition from digital justice towards a model of algorithmic justice and the impact of artificial intelligence on continental procedural safeguards. The study examines the tension between technical efficiency and fundamental principles such as the right to effective judicial protection, the right of defence, and the requirement to provide reasons for judicial decisions, all of which may be threatened by the opacity of “black box” systems. The study addresses the EU regulatory framework, highlighting the AI Act and the Digital Services Act as key instruments requiring human oversight and transparency. It also assesses the limits imposed by international public policy under the New York Convention in relation to automated arbitral awards. Finally, it analyses the Brussels Effect as a driver of global ethical and evidentiary standards that make innovation subject to the rule of law.
The eUniv Doctoral Committee, at its meeting held on 8 May 2026, received the three external reports issued on the doctoral thesis entitled University Higher Education in Nursing in the Principalities of Andorra and Catalonia in the 21st Century, submitted by doctoral candidate Maria A. Corredor under the supervision of Dr Jesús M. Prujà.
Given that all three reports —which are mandatory and binding— were favourable to the defence of the aforementioned doctoral thesis, the Committee instructed the Secretariat of the Doctoral School to proceed with its public display, in accordance with Article 8.7 of Decree 179/2025 of 21 May, regulating doctoral studies in Andorra.
The public display period will end on 8 June 2026. Anyone interested in consulting the doctoral thesis on display may contact the Secretariat of the Doctoral School. In accordance with Article 8.6 of the aforementioned Decree, requests for amendments may be submitted during the 30-day public display period by any person who can provide evidence that they hold a doctoral degree.

The Copa Colegial shows that school sports can be a driver of social cohesion
In an increasingly globalised and digitalised world, universities face the challenge of going beyond teaching and research. This is what has long been known as their third mission: to actively contribute to the society that hosts them. It is not only about training professionals or generating knowledge, but also about building community, becoming rooted in the territory, and participating in its collective life.
eUniv was founded precisely with this vocation. As a higher education institution established in the Principality of Andorra and integrated into the European Higher Education Area, its mission is not limited to offering official bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, but also includes contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and the construction of a fairer society. This social dimension is not secondary: it is essential to understanding the purpose of the contemporary university.
It is within this context that eUniv’s active participation in the second edition of the Copa Colegial Andorra should be understood. This event, part of one of the most important school basketball tournaments in Europe, is not merely a sporting competition. It is a meeting space for young people, schools, families and institutions, generating identity, shared values and a sense of belonging. The Copa Colegial has demonstrated that school sports can be a powerful driver of social cohesion, engaging thousands of students and educational centres in a shared project.
eUniv’s decision to become the main sponsor of the Copa Colegial Andorra 2025–2026 and to actively collaborate in it reflects this vision. It is not a one-off gesture or a visibility strategy, but a clear commitment to the country’s young talent and to the values promoted by the tournament: effort, teamwork and holistic education. The fact that the official presentation of the tournament was held at the university’s headquarters and that eUniv is present across all areas of the competition demonstrates a genuine willingness to engage in the educational and social life of the territory.
This commitment is not isolated. eUniv carries out various collaborative actions with Andorran entities, agreements with institutions, and initiatives that connect the university with the country’s reality. These activities are part of its understanding of the university as an active player within Andorra’s social, economic and cultural ecosystem.
In this regard, the university’s third mission takes on particular relevance in territories such as ours. In a small country, the university cannot be a distant or abstract institution; it must be an integrating element, capable of generating connections and contributing to collective development. Being rooted in the territory is not only a matter of geographical location, but of commitment to people and their needs.
The Copa Colegial Andorra is a paradigmatic example of this. In its second edition, it has consolidated a space where education and sport meet, and where the country’s educational community recognises itself and projects itself into the future. eUniv’s participation in this project reinforces the idea that the university is not only a place for individual learning, but also a driver of social cohesion.

eUniv has formalized a collaboration agreement with Andbank with the aim of promoting access to and participation in higher education among the bank’s professional staff.
This agreement is part of eUniv’s foundational commitment to fostering lifelong learning and bringing higher education closer to professional environments, as well as Andbank’s intention to support the personal, social, and professional development of its employees through university education .
Access to a wide academic offer
The agreement enables Andbank professionals to access a broad range of official degree programmes offered by eUniv, including bachelor’s degrees in fields such as Business Administration, Law, Communication, Psychology, Humanities, Marketing, and Political Science, as well as master’s degrees in Business Administration and Criminology. It also includes technological programmes such as the bachelor’s degree in Data Science (AI) and Computer Science.
Admission and enrolment facilities
Under the terms of the agreement, Andbank professionals may access university studies in accordance with the general admission framework of the Principality of Andorra, with eUniv providing support in obtaining the required ministerial certification. The university also undertakes to admit all candidates from the group who meet the established requirements.
The agreement also establishes streamlined enrolment procedures and provides for the academic recognition of professional experience through prior learning assessment processes, thereby enhancing flexibility and adapting learning pathways to individual profiles.
A commitment to education and institutional collaboration
The agreement, which is valid indefinitely from the date of signature, strengthens collaboration between academia and the financial sector and reinforces eUniv’s role as an institution focused on the education of working professionals. As part of this partnership, the agreement предусматриes the inclusion of an Andbank representative in the University’s Academic Senate.
Through this initiative, eUniv continues to advance its mission of contributing to human capital development and knowledge transfer across society.
The University’s Doctoral Committee, meeting in ordinary session on April 10, 2026, approved the application for the submission of the doctoral thesis entitled L’ensenyament superior universitari d’Infermeria als Principats d’Andorra i Catalunya al Segle XXI, submitted by the doctoral candidate Maria A. CORREDOR, with the approval of her supervisor, Dr. Jesús M. PRUJÀ, and registered in the University’s General Registry on March 25, 2026, in accordance with Article 8.2 of Decree 179/2025, of May 21, regulating doctoral studies in Andorra.
Likewise, in compliance with Article 8.3 of the same decree, the Committee approved the appointment of three expert doctors in the field, external to eUniv, who will be responsible for evaluating and issuing a binding report on the quality of the submitted thesis: Dr. Laura BUJALANCE, researcher in the field of History of Science at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid; Dr. Ferran FUERTES, professor in the Department of Nursing at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya; and Dr. Joan SOLSONA, inspector of vocational education and specialist in factors influencing university choice.
These three external evaluators have four weeks to issue their reports and, once received, if they are positive, the Doctoral Committee will proceed to appoint the corresponding examination board, in accordance with the procedure established by the current Doctoral Decree.
eUniv has signed a collaboration agreement with Oracle Ibérica S.R.L. to integrate official training and certifications from Oracle Academy and Oracle University into various bachelor’s and postgraduate programs. Thanks to this agreement, eUniv students will be able to develop key skills in the technology sector and obtain internationally recognized professional certifications in cloud computing, databases, and software development.
The agreement was signed in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra) by Anton Miret Serra, General Manager of Universitat Europea, and Albert Triola Espigulé, representing Oracle in Spain. Both entities share the mission of fostering talent in information technologies and contributing to the employability of young professionals through high-quality education.
Certified training from the first year of undergraduate studies
The agreement includes the progressive incorporation of Oracle Academy content from the first years of bachelor’s programs, with learning pathways in areas such as Java programming, database design and administration, and cloud development.
Additionally, in the final stages of the bachelor’s degree and in selected postgraduate programs, students will be able to access the Oracle University – Workforce Development Program, which includes official online courses, hands-on labs, seminars, final projects, and exclusive Oracle materials, as well as access to an official Oracle certification voucher per course, among other benefits.
The initiative also includes masterclasses delivered by Oracle professionals and mentoring activities, thereby strengthening the link between academic training and professional practice.
A commitment to technological employability
This agreement is part of eUniv’s commitment to student-centered education, aligned with the realities of the professional environment and aimed at training the technological leaders of the future.
With this partnership, eUniv takes a further step in establishing strategic alliances that promote talent development in the STEM field and prepare students to face the challenges of digital transformation.
The Academic Board of the University approved, at the proposal of the Director of the University Institute of Applied Technology (IUTA), to request from the Government of the Principality of Andorra the creation of two new state bachelor’s degrees: Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering.
The Bioinformatics program is currently implemented in the Catalan university system through an interuniversity agreement between UAB, UB, UPC, and UPF, which have offered it as an official undergraduate degree since the 2023–24 academic year. The future introduction of this program at eUniv’s IUTA will contribute to strengthening the current academic field of Computer Science with a fourth degree.
Meanwhile, Biomedical Engineeringis a well-established and widely implemented field across all levels of the European Higher Education Area. In the Spanish university system alone, it is offered in more than thirty universities, including the UOC, which will introduce it in a fully online teaching format starting next academic year.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the Academic Board of the University, led by the Rector and the Chancellor, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Research, the Academic Protonotary, and the Director of Humanities Studies, visited His Excellency the Episcopal Co-Prince of the Principality of Andorra, His Eminence and Most Reverend Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat.
Also present at the meeting were the personal representative of the Episcopal Co-Prince, Dr. Eduard Ibáñez; the Delegate for Education of the Diocese of Urgell, Mn. Pepe Chisvert; and the Director of the Fiter i Rossell Chair at eUniv, Dr. Josep Serrano, who presented his latest study on the martyrial documentation of Bishop Pere M. Sans, which will be published this year.
The eUniv delegation presented the current status of the institutional development of the university project, as well as addressed questions regarding future prospects raised by the attending authorities.
With this visit, eUniv continued its institutional relationship with the Episcopal Co-Principality, initiated in 2023 with the visit to the previous office holder, His Eminence and Most Reverend Joan-Enric Vives i Sicília.
