Commemoration of the Canonization of Pere M. Sans Jordà
The Director of the Fiter i Rossell Chair at eUniv, Dr. Josep Serrano Daura, is coordinating with the Chinese Catholic Community of Barcelona the commemorative events for the 25th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Pere M. Sans Jordà, Apostolic Vicar of Fujian, China. Dr. Serrano earned his PhD in History with a dissertation dedicated to the figure of this Dominican, a native of Ascó who was martyred in mid-18th-century China, and he is currently preparing the edition of the original text narrating those tragic historical events, which served as the basis for the later beatification and canonization processes of Sans Jordà.
The central act of the commemoration will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the headquarters of the Conciliar Seminary of Barcelona. The Vice-Chancellor of eUniv, Rev. Josep Chisvert, will preside over the round table, with contributions from various ecclesiastical and lay speakers, including those from the Chinese Archdiocese of Fuzhou, who will travel to Barcelona to take part in the commemoration.
