eUniv will participate in the Universitat Catalana d’Estiu 2024

From August 17 to 23, 2024, the 56th edition of the Catalan Summer University will take place in the town of Prada de Conflent. This year’s program of events includes the traditional day organized by the Andorran Society of Sciences, with the sponsorship of the Government of Andorra and FEDA, and which this year will address the topic “Globalization and Andorra”.

The conference will take place on Saturday, August 17, and a total of 21 presentations will be presented in person, to which another 13 will be added in the subsequent publication.

Among the face-to-face presentations that will be presented during the afternoon is the presentation by Dr. Marc B. Escolà, Academic Prothonotary of the eUniv, who will discuss “The globalization of the university offer from Andorra: future perspectives”.

eUniv agreements with Miguel Hernández University

On July 10, 2024, the inter-institutional cooperation framework agreement was signed between eUniv and the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. This agreement is accompanied by two other specific agreements, one dedicated to arranging the stays of visiting teaching and research staff from both universities, and the other to the regulation of the academic conditions of the exchanges of the respective students.

These agreements are part of eUniv’s institutional strategy, aimed at fostering institutional links with the international academic environment, and especially with universities in Catalan-speaking territories.

As a result of these agreements with the Miguel Hernández University, in the next academic year 2024-2025, the eUniv will receive researchers from the Faculty of Law of the Illicitan university, who will carry out research stays dedicated to the comparative analysis of various institutions of the private international law.

Appointment of the Director of the Fiter i Rossell Chair of Legal History

At the proposal of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, the Academic Board of the eUniv approved, in the session of July 9, 2024, the appointment of Dr. Josep Serrano i Daura as Director of the Fiter i Rossell Chair of Legal History.

Dr. Serrano is currently the coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program at the eUniv. He has been professor of Legal History at the Universities of Barcelona, ​​Pompeu Fabra and Internacional de Catalunya. He is also the director of the Journal of Catalan Historical Law, published by the Catalan Society of Legal Studies, a subsidiary of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, and is also an active organizer of specialized scientific calls in the field of history legal throughout the Catalan-speaking territory.

Dr. Serrano is the author of a huge and continuous scientific production, which has earned him all the academic research accreditations from the quality agencies. Among his most recent works, the monumental Leyes Históricas de Cataluña (2024), published in four volumes in Madrid by the publisher of the Official Gazette of the Spanish State, stands out.

The Fiter i Rossell Chair of Law History is the result of the agreement between eUniv and the Layret Foundation, and the appointment agreement of Dr. Serrano establishes as the start date for the exercise of managerial functions the next September 1, 2024.

New line of doctoral research on university education

At the proposal of the Management of the J. H. Newman Doctoral School, the Academic Board of the eUniv approved, in the session of July 9, 2024, the organization of a new Doctoral Research Line (LRD) dedicated to the systematic study of the academic disciplines incorporated as courses by university institutions.

In accordance with the proposal presented, this LRD will have an empirical orientation and will start from a common analytical model, built on three basic elements: the legal and academic regimes, the curricular arrangements and the evolution of the supply and demand of each teaching In principle, the LRD will have as a temporal framework the 21st century and as territorial the Principalities of Andorra and Catalonia, which will be the subject of the corresponding comparative analysis within the European Higher Education Area.

With this LRD, which is added to that of University History, the eUniv strengthens its strategic specialization in research on the university institution, which becomes the central object of study for all the research activity of the eUniv.

The approval agreement for this LRD envisages the start of admissions from next September 1, 2024, and its coordination will be in charge of Dr. Jesús M. Prujà.

eUniv joins the ENAI European network

On July 8, 2024, the incorporation of eUniv into the European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) was formalized. This decision is part of the conclusions of the Conference on the future of university assessment, held at the eUniv last May 3, 2024.

ENAI is the largest academic integrity network in Europe and includes key players in this fight from around the world. ENAI brings experts in the field into contact and cooperates with European and international organizations focused on academic and research integrity. The result of this work are the valuable resources generated, such as the Glossary on Academic Integrity or the database of educational materials.

ENAI organizes the European Conference on Ethics and Integrity in the Academy, which is scheduled for June 2025 at the University of Uppsala (Sweden), as well as the ENAI Academic Integrity Ph Summer School, which will take place next month of September 2024 at the University of Konstanz (Germany), and in which eUniv will participate with several representatives of its faculties and university services.

Participation of eUniv in the meeting of the International Association for Neo-Latin Studies (IANLS)

Every three years, the members of the International Association of Neo-Latin Studies (IANLS) meet and participate in a week-long conference. Over the years, this event has become the single most important conference in the field of neo-Latin studies. The communications presented at these conferences offer an overview of the current state of Neo-Latin research; its current trends, popular topics and methodologies.


In 2022, IANLS members met in Leuven where the first of these congresses took place 50 years ago. As a result of these days, the book “Acta Conventus Neo-Latini Lovaniensis. Proceedings of the XVIII International Congress of Neo-Latin Studies (Leuven 2022)” has been published. The articles cover a wide range of fields, including literature, history, philology, and religious studies.


Dr. Daniel Alvàrez, professor of Classical Languages ​​at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the European University-IMF, has participated in these conferences by publishing the article “Defenestratio ex Deputatione iurisperiti Narcissi de Sancto Dionisio et acta pertinentia Latine scripta (1425–1428)“.

The eUniv Senate meets

Last Friday, June 14, the ordinary session of the Senate of the European University-eUniv corresponding to the second semester of the 2023-24 academic year was held.


The Chancellor, Dr. Jesús Prujà and the Vice-Chancellor, Mn. Pepe Chisvert, opened the session, which was attended by the majority of senators. In accordance with the agenda, the different evolutions of the university’s centers (F. Layret University College, J.H. Newman Doctoral School, University Institute of Applied Technology and the School of Classical Languages), in charge of the respective directors. Next, the academic prothonotary, Dr. Marc Escolà, presented the development of the various ongoing institutional projects, placing special emphasis on the international academic agreements signed, the different international networks of the University, the project of the School of Modern Languages ​​and the creation of the scientific journal Alma Mater . The Manager of the University, Anton Miret, closed the exhibitions by explaining to the Senate the promotion agreements signed with networks of higher education centers, especially with those in Latin America, as well as the rehabilitation and expansion works started at the headquarters and the Barcelona Foreign Office and, ultimately, the University’s economic development forecasts.


The Rector, Dr. Antoni Noguero, brought the session to a close and then the members of the Senate went to lunch at Naturland Lauredian Park, and later visited the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Canòlich, in commemoration of the eight hundred years since the image was found.

eUniv present at ACTINN & Talks

The professor of the Bachelor of Industrial Organization Engineering at the eUniv, Ramon Puente, participated in the monthly ACTINN & Talks Conference, which took place on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Ingeni Coworking Ònix, giving the conference on Digital business models and sustainability. In this conference, which was attended by managers and representatives of Andorran companies and administrations, Professor Puente presented his theses on the effective compatibility between sustainability and corporate social responsibility and the emerging business competitiveness of digital businesses.


Also, and in a complementary way to the conference, the Executive Program in Digital Transformation was presented, which is organized by eUniv together with ACTINN, and of which professor Puente himself will be the coordinator. Participation in the publication of the book Estudis Luso-Hispanas d’Història del Dret III

Dr. Daniel Alvàrez, professor of Classical Languages ​​at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the European University-IMF, has published the article “The Dignity of Late Medieval Catalan Jurists” in the book Estudis Luso-Hispanics d’Història del Dret, Capdeferro, Josep, coordinate (2024), vol. III, Madrid; Ed. Dykinson, pp. 27-50.

This volume brings together most of the communications presented at the IV Hispano-Lusiana Meeting of Historians of Law held at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona in June 2022. The twenty-five chapters of the book deal with legal aspects of the Iberian territories in the middle ages, modern and, above all, contemporary, until the end of the 20th century. Special emphasis is placed on jurisdictional conflicts, doctrine on insurance in the ius commune era, judicial experiences and figures or the construction and crisis of the liberal state.
