eUniv participates in the International Conference on Political Unions in European History

Sant Juliá de Loira, September 15, 2026 — eUniv actively participated in the international conference «Political Unions in European History (10th-18th Centuries), and Their Perception in the Cultures of Remembrance (19th-21th Centuries)», held from September 7 to 9, 2026, at the headquarters of the House of European History in Brussels.
This high-level academic event was jointly organized by the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Sächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften) and the Polish Academy of Sciences (Polska Akademia Nauk). The academic co-direction was led by Professors Dr. W. Huschner and Dr. I. Kakolewski, representing their respective scientific institutions.
The conference’s academic program was divided into two consecutive sections: the first dedicated to long-lasting extinct European political unions, and the second focusing on those with a more limited duration. Throughout the presentations, participants discussed a wide range of European political unions from the 10th to the 20th century, including the Kalmar Union, Castile and Leon, Austria and Spain, Bohemia and Hungary, and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Within this analytical framework, Professor Dr. Josep Serrano Daura, Director of the Fiter i Rossell Chair at eUniv, presented a paper entitled «The dynastic union of the so-called Crown of Aragon (12th-18th centuries)», addressing the historical nature and evolution of this political entity between the 12th and 18th centuries.
