The Alma Mater University Institute is organizing a Technical Conference dedicated to the future of university assessment

On Friday, May 3, 2024, a Technical Conference was held in the Rector Noguero Room of the eUniv, dedicated specifically to the problems experienced by the evaluation systems of universities as a result of the introduction of AI to all the levels.

At the Conference several speakers presented the experiences of a series of different university centers: Aleix Dorca (University of Andorra), Marc B. Escolà (University Europea IMF), Rosa M. Gil (University of Lleida), Jordi Garcia (University of Girona), Francisco J. Guillén (Santa Clara University of California), Maria Pupysheva (Moscow State University of Languages), Xavier Sales (Vic-Central University of Catalonia), and David Tanganelli (International University of Catalonia). These experiences made it possible to consider the problem from a set of different academic disciplines, such as engineering, economics, law, tourism, psychology, humanities, business and philology.

Institutional representatives were also present at the Conference, such as the Director of Higher Education of the Government of Andorra, Xavier Campuzano, and the Director of the Access Office at the University of the Generalitat of Catalonia, in addition to representatives academics, such as the chancellor of Carlemany University, Helena Prieto, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lleida, Joan J. Busqueta.

The president of the Alma Mater University Institute, Eladi Llop, announced that the magnitude of the AI challenge requires a permanent inter-university cooperative effort, which is why he announced a second Technical Conference, already dedicated to directly discussing the different technical and regulatory proposals, which must allow universities to continue to assure society of their ability to assess students and thus accredit their degrees.

eUniv participates in the tribute to Professor Paul Freedman (Yale University) at the Monastery of Bellpuig de les Avellanes

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Bellpuig de les Avellanes, the act of honoring the American historian Paul Freedman, a professor at Yale University, who has dedicated a good part of his fifty years, was held from his academic life to the study of medieval Catalan and Andorran history.

The tribute was promoted by the Consolidated Research Group in Medieval Studies of the University of Lleida and by the association of Friends of the Avellanes Monastery, and several members of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities attended on behalf of eUniv, headed by the Humanities Education Coordinator, Francesc X. De Fantova.

Dr. Flocel Sabaté, made the academic gloss of the historian, who presented his latest book: The Splendor and Opulence of the Past: Studying the Middle Ages in Enlightenment Catalonia, a work that collects his research of the last decades on the so-called Escola Històrica de les Avellanes (18th century), especially on the documentation of the abbot and historian Jaume Caresmar, unexpectedly discovered in 2002.

The Catalan version of the Compendium of the Biblical Canon was presented in the Barcelona basilica in an event presided over by the Archbishop of Barcelona and with the presence of the Minister of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities of the Government of Andorra

Last Wednesday (April 24, 2024), the Basilica of the Sagrada Família hosted a significant event for biblical studies: the presentation of the book Compendium of the Biblical Canon. Bilingual lists of the biblical catalogs, Old Testament, New Testament and Apocrypha, edited by the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of Barcelona (ISCREB) and the School of Classical Languages of the eUniv.

The author of the Compendium is Dr. Waldecir Gonzaga, from the universities of Rio de Janeiro and Leuven, and the translators have been Dr. Gabriel of the S.T. Sampol (Catalan) and Dr. Ramon Torné (Greek and Latin), professor at the School of Classical Languages of the eUniv.

The event was presided over by Cardinal Mn. Joan Josep Omella and by the Chancellor of the eUniv, Dr. Antoni Noguero, and had the assistance of the Minister of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities of the Government of Andorra, Mr. Ladislau Baró, and the Director of Higher Education of the same Ministry, Mr. Xavier Campuzano, among other Andorran authorities.

The Chancellor of the eUniv, Dr. Jesús Maria Prujà, who recalled that the mission of the university is to generate knowledge, and that initiatives such as this edition are aimed directly at this, while contributing to the strengthening of the Catalan language and culture, which is also the commitment of the eUniv.

The Rector of the eUniv intervened at the closing of the event highlighting the unparalleled framework of the academic event, thanking the work of the people who have made it possible, with a special mention addressed to Mn. On Thursday, April 11, 2024, eUniv’s Bachelor in Psychology Coordinator, Elisa Fité, participated in the Professions Day at Lycée Comte de Foix d’Andorra, where she explained the characteristics of university training in Psychology, as well as their specializations and professional exits, to the students of the French center interested in this academic discipline.

eUniv attends to all requests from secondary education centers that organize this type of conference, and the different coordinators of eUniv courses participate actively and regularly, which allows for fluid institutional communication with the centres, on the one hand, and a direct relationship with future university students.

eUniv participates in the course “Contemporary Catalan writers. New views for new teaching”

The Faculty of Catalan Philology at the European University will be part of the course organized by the Catalan Society of Cultural History and ISCREB

The virtual international course “Contemporary Catalan writers. New views for new teaching” will have the participation of the eUniv in its program. The structure will be divided into several sessions (50 hours in total) that will be taught between September 25 and December 11 this year.

In addition to eUniv, other universities such as the University of Barcelona (UB), the International University of Catalonia (UIC) or the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), among others, will participate in the scheduled sessions. Some of the authors that will be covered throughout the course are Joan Maragall, Víctor Català, Mercè Rodoreda, Josep Carner or Àngel Guimerà, among many others.

In this way, within the framework of the Catalan language, the aim of the course is to approach various Catalan writers, to value them and to project their work and their view towards teaching.

IURNAT and the Instituto Universitario Superior San Isidro sign a Scientific and Technical Cooperation agreement

The Director of the NAT University Research Institute (IURNAT) and vicedean of the eUniv, Dr. Carlos Martínez, signed last March 12, 2024 a scientific and technical cooperation agreement with the Instituto Universitario San Isidro, which has its headquarters in the city of Cuenca (Ecuador).

By virtue of this agreement, IURNAT will advise the Ecuadorian institution in its process of transforming its teaching into the virtual modality, which will take effect through the eUniv teaching and academic management platforms.

The Instituto Universitario San Isidro is an educational center that was born in 2008 and whose mission is to train citizens with solid values, aware of national identity and respect for nature; entrepreneurial professionals, with leadership and commitment.

Executive Digital Transformation program for companies

ACTINN, the Innovation and New Technologies Cluster of Andorra, and the European University – IMF (eUniv) are organizing the first digital transformation executive program to be carried out in Andorra in person. Approved the study plan of the Bachelor in Industrial Organization Engineering of the eUniv

In the session of Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the study plan for the Bachelor in Industrial Organization Engineering of the IMF European University.

This Bachelor will be implemented in the next academic year 2024-25 at the Institute of Applied Technology of the eUniv in the virtual modality. The degree corresponds to level 6A of the Marc Andorrà de Qualificaciones (MAQ) and can be accessed from secondary education and from the other complementary pathways.

The duration of the studies – which have a workload of 180 European credits – is three full-time academic courses divided into six semesters, however, these studies can also be taken part-time, adjusting the duration.

People qualified in this will obtain the skills to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of industrial and service activities; promote continuous improvement and product innovation; and apply the organizational models, services and technological processes most appropriate to each company, within the framework of the new industrial model.

The students of this bachelor’s degree will study subjects on thermodynamics, sustainability and the environment, statistics, physics and chemistry, electrical and electronic technology, management and company finance, sustainable energy, IT, and design and innovation, among others.

Dr. Josep Serrano presents his work on the figure of Pere Màrtir Sans and the Dominican missions in Asia

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, the work of Dr. Josep Serrano, coordinator of the Doctoral Program of the eUniv, on Fra Pere Màrtir Sans i Jordà, a Dominican native of Ascó (Ribera d’Ebre), who was bishop of the Chinese diocese of Mauricastro, where he died a victim of religious persecution against the Catholics in 1747.

Professor Serrano’s work is the result of two decades of continuous research, including visits to the sites of historical events, and has been published in three volumes by the Ascó City Council, and presented in the municipal assembly hall of same municipality by its authorities. The event was attended by Dr. Josep M. Sans, eUniv senator, Dr. Marc Escolà, Academic Prothonotary of the eUniv, and Dr. Xavier Baró, professor at the Faculty of Humanities at the International University of Catalonia.
